This article attempts to show how the new critical discourse on postcoloniality can become significant and meaningful in the Chinese context. " Additionally, my discussion will be guided by the following insight: though the concepts of postcoloniality in translation throw new light on the Chinese situation, the uniqueness of the Chinese case forces us to revise the parameters within which postcolonial theorizing functions.
